HAVE YOU EVER...had an enemy?

We just finished studying Job in our Sunday School class.  Many people say, “Boooo!”  when they hear someone mention the name Job.  I had not really studied it thoroughly before.  We learned about how devotion to the Lord can have its trials.  Job’s story is about sanctification.  That has always been a scary word to me, and more so after this story.  What stood out to me the most was SATAN!

Satan.  The Serpent.  The Deceiver.  The Devil.  The Tempter.  The Accuser.

Satan evolves through the Bible.  He has many names, but we know that he is nothing like God.  Satan is our enemy.

Job 1:7 is Satan telling God that he has been roaming the earth.

Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  1 Peter 5:8

I am not an expert on Satan, nor care to be.  Even so, have you ever heard the phrase “keep your friend’s close and your enemies closer”?  I don’t intend to keep Satan nearby, but I am going to be much more aware of scripture about Satan.  He is real and he can’t wait to accuse me in front of God.  I will be more aware of the deceiver.  There is a spiritual warfare at hand!

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Ephesians 6:12

HAVE YOU EVER been aware?

Genesis 3; Matthew 4; John 10:10
